Congratulations to Priscilla Drake, our 85th Climate Fund awardee! After many years of relying on an inefficient and costly fuel oil furnace that also impacted her indoor air quality, Priscilla knew it was time for a change. Determined to find a better solution, she reached out to the experts at Halco Energy to explore her options.

The Halco team quickly recognized that Priscilla’s home was an ideal candidate for an air source heat pump, a highly efficient and eco-friendly alternative to her outdated furnace. With a plan in place, the Halco team got to work, not only installing the new heat pump but also addressing other key areas of her home. They insulated the basement doors, added insulation to the drafty stone basement walls and rim joists, and installed a vapor barrier on the basement dirt floor.

These comprehensive improvements not only enhanced the comfort and energy efficiency of Priscilla’s home but also had a tremendous positive impact on the environment. By combining the home heating upgrades with energy-saving weatherization, Priscilla’s efforts have eliminated an impressive 91 tons of CO2 from our atmosphere! This major emissions reduction earned Priscilla one of our largest Climate Fund awards. By combining this grant with a variety of other available incentives, Priscilla was able to significantly lower her out-of-pocket costs, ultimately paying just 4% of the total work scope!
