Our Mission

The Finger Lakes Climate Fund works to promote clean energy projects in the Finger Lakes area while strengthening our regional economy and assisting local families in need. The Climate Fund provides a way for people to support our community while offsetting greenhouse gas emissions from their buildings or travel.

Carbon offset donations are used for grants to fund energy efficiency projects and renewables that would not otherwise be possible in low-to-moderate income households in the Finger Lakes region. These grants help pay for insulation, air sealing, energy efficient heating equipment like heat pumps.

The Finger Lakes Climate Fund offers carbon offsets for individuals, businesses, non-profits, academic institutions, and special events. For more information on purchasing carbon offsets for your organization or special event please contact us at info@fingerlakesclimatefund.org or 607-272-1720.

The Finger Lakes Climate Fund is a project of Sustainable Finger Lakes a sustainability focused 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Ithaca, NY.

We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Park Foundation. It was their generosity that made it possible for us to build the carbon offset calculator, launch the Climate Fund and make our first grant. We’re also grateful for gifts from the Lane Family Fund, Sustainable Newfield Fund, Strebel Fund, Fleased, and Ithaca College Collective Impact. Special thanks to Ellen Harrison for her leadership in launching our first annual Seal the Cracks campaign.

You can partner with the Finger Lakes Climate Fund as did the Mothers Out Front Corning Chapter, Temple Beth El Green Team, Center for A New American Dream Board, Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce Travel program, the Congregation of Tikkun V’or, Upstate NY Quaker Conference, Finger Lakes Chapter of the Sierra Club, Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future, and dozens of other organizations, businesses, and individuals that are working together to take responsibility for their carbon emissions and help others in need.
