Congratulations to our 103rd Finger Lakes Climate Fund awardee, Zahavah! Zahavah is a recent Cornell graduate who is pursuing a PHD in microbiology. She learned about the Finger Lakes Climate fund from Halco, and was interested in learning more.
Zahavah had been using fuel oil to heat her home when she began to experience problems like steam and smoke coming from the radiators. After some time using space heaters instead, which was expensive, Halco installed Zahavah’s heat pump just in time for winter.
Since the installation, Zahavah’s house has been super comfortable and warm. She also enjoys that it is a much more sustainable source of energy, “I’m always happy to do anything that lets me not rely on fossil fuels. I definitely recommend it!”. Because of Zahavah’s decision to switch to a heat pump, 173 tons of CO2 will be kept out of the atmosphere!
