Congratulations to our 92nd Finger Lakes Climate awardee, Ritza Francois! She is a homeowner in Trumansburg and is passionate about sustainability, specifically food justice and conservation. Choosing an energy source that is more environmentally friendly was one of the main reasons Ritza looked into the Finger Lakes Climate Fund, alongside high propane costs. “When we got this land I wanted to be very mindful of the inputs and things that we are doing… we were very interested in doing cleaner energy opportunities.”
With help from Cornell Cooperative Extension, she was directed to Simply Installs who completed the installation work. Since this project was completed, her home temperatures have been much more comfortable, especially in the summertime, and she enjoys how easy it is to change the settings.
Ritza’s decision to switch to a more sustainable heating and cooling source will keep 110 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere! “We are very excited that this program exists, and we hope more people sign up for it because you can definitely see the benefits of having a heat pump”.
