Congratulations to our 110th Finger Lakes Climate Fund Awardee, Scott Salch!
He first heard about the Finger Lakes Climate Fund through a flyer in his mail announcing the Mobile Home Pilot Program. After connecting with Sustainable Finger Lakes, he was introduced to Halco, who handled the application and provided updates. Ever since buying his home in 2010, he wanted an upgrade, but the costs were always too high. Scott’s furnace was breaking down after 36 years. It was noisy, inefficient, costly, and harmful to the environment. Coupled with the fact that he is committed to lowering his carbon footprint, Scott felt motivated to make the switch to clean energy.
Scott received a new dual heating and cooling system and spray insulation installed under the house through the grant. Though he hasn’t yet experienced a winter with the system, the summer performance was excellent, and the house stayed cool.
Now, Scott’s home is more comfortable, sustainable, and safe. Thanks to these energy upgrades, he is preventing 60.7 tons of CO₂ emissions from entering the atmosphere!
