Taylor and Seth LaValley’s charming Dryden home, originally built in the 1800s, wasn’t always the cozy, bustling haven it is today for their family of six. Before they moved in, the house went through a remarkable three-year transformation, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties.
The folks at Habitat for Humanity went all in, re-roofing, re-siding, and re-insulating the home. But the cherry on top of this incredible transformation was the installation of a highly efficient air source heat pump! This addition not only modernized the home’s energy system but also aligned perfectly with the mission of the Finger Lakes Climate Fund. Habitat for Humanity has been a longtime partner of the Fund, connecting us with homes and families eager to make the switch to cleaner, more progressive energy solutions. With an impressive emissions reduction of 21.10 tons of CO2, we’re thrilled to welcome the LaValley family as our 81st Climate Fund Awardees!
The LaValleys now have an efficient and comfortable home, no matter the season. Taylor happily remarked that the heat pump “keeps us warm in the winter and cool in the summer, which is delightful.” Here’s to all the wonderful memories yet to be made in the home of our newest Climate Heroes!
