Business and Organization Offsetters

Taking responsibility for our carbon emissions is not just up to individuals. Businesses, governments, campuses, institutions and nonprofits are also obligated to do their part when it comes to avoiding climate disruption.

In 2020 we began a new campaign just for offsetters at the organizational scale: the Finger Lakes Enterprises for Climate Action (FLECA). We are inviting businesses and organizations from across the region to join us in our mission to give carbon the boot, all while supporting lower-income families that live in those same communities.

These businesses range from regional service providers to sole proprietor startups. With everyone pitching in, we can make a significant impact and continue to change lives across the Finger Lakes. To learn more about getting your organization enrolled, just email info@fingerlakesclimatefund.org and we’ll get you started.

Carol Bushberg Real Estate

Carol Bushberg Real Estate is the first brokerage in Tompkins County to offset their carbon footprint by joining the FLECA team! The emissions they are offsetting are: gasoline usage and emissions from the automobiles operated by 11 team members, heating and cooling a 2,500 square foot office space, and their coffee makers.

Carol and her team recognize the impact of global climate change and as a company they are making a difference! Sustainable Finger Lakes and the Finger Lakes Climate Fund could not be more thrilled about this partnership.

Discover Cayuga Lake

For two decades, Discover Cayuga Lake (DCL) has engaged students, community members, and visitors in learning about the ecology and history of Cayuga Lake and its watershed. DCL is committed to providing equitable access to Cayuga Lake and to fostering an appreciation of the importance of the Finger Lakes watersheds for local ecosystems, human use, and natural beauty.

Discover Cayuga Lake makes an offset donation to the Finger Lakes Climate Fund annually to cover the emissions from the fuel used to power their boat, the MV Teal. In addition, they host an annual Carbon Offset Cruise. Further, DCL provides a check box on their cruise reservation page, so any passenger can choose to make a $1 donation to the FLCF when they book their ticket.

Discover Cayuga Lake provides fun, beauty, education, and inspiration to so many people in our community and beyond. The Finger Lakes Climate Fund is honored to partner with Discover Cayuga Lake!
